PRAISE THE LORD! This weekend on Saturday, August 12 we celebrated with family and friends on the 25th anniversary of Frank being ordained into the Gospel Ministry. In August 1998, Frank Shelton, Jr was ordained at Cresthill Baptist in Bowie, MD and what a delight it was a quarter of a century later to pause, reflect and give God praise for His faithfulness. It was humbling that friends from TEN states travelled from coast to coast to be on hand in Frank’s hometown of Southern Maryland. Our theme was BACK TO THE FUTURE and we had a replica DeLorean just like the one in the movie for folks to see up close the iconic car. Once friends walked the red carpet inside they were greeted by Frank’s mother, Sharon, his Aunt Janie and board members from Frank Shelton GLOBAL. Kim Hunter and her team did a stellar job catering the food and the program was a little bit of Hollywood mixed with Capitol Hill but it was all about Him (JESUS)!

The two soloists were incredible! Both Missy Cooper from Waldorf, MD and Jonathan Alexandre brought the house down and received a standing ovation. His rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer” set the tone and took us to God’s Throne. Testimonies from friends blessed the audience and Ruth’s remarks about Frank touched all in attendance. Longtime friend and fellow Olympic chaplain, Randy Shepherd flew in from NC and shared stories of their ministry together while even leading a drug lord to Christ in the most dangerous region of Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. Randy played on the same team with Michael Jordan at UNC Basketball Coach Dean Smith’s summer camp in 1980. MJ & Randy have been friends for over 40 years! On that outreach alone during the Olympics our team saw 1,064 salvations for Christ. While some go for GOLD we go to point others to GOD! Marla Higginbotham (Christian Radio Host) and her husband drove ten hours from Tennessee to be with us and her remarks about Frank’s love for diversity, humility and passion for sharing the Gospel touched every heart.

It was a blessing to get a video greeting from distinguished leaders – “Olympian of the Century” – USA 9x gold medalist Carl Lewis, Hollywood actress Lea Thompson who played Lorriane McFly in BACK TO THE FUTURE and Priscilla Presley. Frank’s family friend was a bodyguard and friend to Elvis for seven years. You can see all the videos below! What a treat to have John Morgan – POTUS impersonator share and he came equipped with “Hail to the Chief,” Secret Service in formation and tons of humor and JOY. Most importantly, he reminded us all to be imitators of Christ. We recently did a campaign where our ministry mailed everyone a car air freshener of our ministry logo. The windshield is bigger than a rear view mirror because where we are GOING is more important than where we have been. Friends across America loved them and even Dr. Billy Graham’s nephew posted a pic of one in his car. With the remaining ones we had we gave everyone a FREE one at the banquet. It was a hit! It was an honor for Frank to receive a citation from Maryland House Delegate Ric Metzgar from the State Capitol in Annapolis for his service to God, Country and the Great State of Maryland.

Jesus used illustrations, parables and visuals that folks could relate to. Regardless, if it were a fig tree, a farmer planting seed, a woman lighting a candle or a modern day Hollywood car it was a tool to point people from the secular to the spiritual. Frank once in the podium thanked the crowd for attending and gave God the glory. He took us on a slide presentation over the years of what God has done in the past but where we go in the future from here. When it was his time to speak he removed the Presidential seal on the podium and replaced it with the California license plates from the film that read OUTATIME. He reminded the capacity crowd that NOW is the time to roll up our sleeves  and get busy serving the Lord because we can no longer afford to waste time since we are almost Out Of Time! #88MPH

Frank gave an invitation and souls were saved and everyone exited with a fun, filled evening with faith and friends. Frank preaches this coming weekend in Indiana and then catches a flight on August 24 to London, England to be on hand with the former chaplain of the Boston Celtics as he ministers to the former NBA players at the Big 3 Championship Game. Frank’s son, Andrew closed out the evening with a powerful prayer and the closing comments were, “To God Be The Glory – Great Things He Hath Done.” If you notice the pic below at the end of the event, John Morgan “W” jumped in the DeLorean and hanging from the rear view mirror is the Frank Shelton GLOBAL air freshener! The owner of the car loved it and he personally put it on as a reminder. Truly, where we are going is more important than where we have been. When God calls us Home – as Doc Brown from the movie reminds us, “where we are going don’t need roads!”
