In 1897, a gentleman by the name of Mr Pearl B. Wait was a cough syrup manufacturer in LeRoy, New York. In his spare time he was part scientist and part chef. He loved to play in the kitchen and he was always creating something. He elected to turn his sights on the food service industry and one day while at home he made a gelatin and added food coloring to it. After some time in the freezer he pulled it out and noticed something peculiar. It would JIGGLE and WIGGLE (long before those guys in colored outfits from Australia that kids love to watch on tv)!

He tasted it and LOVED it!! He decided to go door to door to share his new product with hopes of selling it. Door after door – day after day he was rejected. He came home weary each night and was discouraged that no one saw the worth in his new product. LESSON ONE: Sometimes, when God gives you an assignment very few (at times only YOU) will know its value. This doesn’t mean that you are wrong you just have to WAIT on God to bring it to fruition.

Mr. Wait tried again and was rejected repeatedly. The days seemed longer and the nights went on forever. Crushed personally and professionally he began to doubt. Doubt turned into discouragement. Discouragement turned to depression and depression evolved into desperation. WORD OF THE DAY: “Desperate people do desperate things.” Sometimes good and too often not so good. LESSON TWO: Never doubt in the dark what God has shown you in the light. The Lord doesn’t lie and He will bring it to pass. Trust the Lord NOT your neighbors.

Discouraged, defeated, depressed and in a downward spiral he was both devastated and desperate. In 1902, Mr. Wait’s neighbor, Orator Francis Woodward offered him $450 for the patent. LESSON THREE: Never make a permanent decision on a temporary situation (or feeling). DEVOTION is greater than emotion. Ironically, less than two years later, a number of cooking experts discovered this gelatin dessert and decided it was just the thing for an elegant meal. That changed everything! Immediately, this dainty dessert began to appear at banquets and fancy dinners. In 1902, O. F. Woodward launches the advertising campaign, “America’s most favorite Dessert” for JELL-O gelatin. Today, Jell-o is the largest selling prepared dessert and is known world-wide.

It was my high honor to write a quote for the new book of Basketball Hall of Fame legend, icon, Humorist, Evangelist and friend, MEADOWLARK LEMON. God has used this precious brother in a million ways to touch multiplied millions as an ambassador of basketball but even greater an Ambassador of Christ in over 100 Countries. Others to submit a foreword included the legendary Bill Cosby (above), Michael Jordan and countless others. It is grace that he asked me to be in his book and it’s God’s Grace that my name is in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Without question, Mr. Cosby helped put JELL-O on the map to a new market reaching millions of homes via television commercials and his comic humor. Mr. Wait died decades ago and he is both the creator and inventor behind this household treat. Today, for the past several decades over 1.1 Million cartons of JELL-O are sold each and ever day. Sadly, not a dime has gone to Mr Wait’s estate, family, grand-children, great grandchildren and charitable causes. Why? Because when he sold the rights he sold any and ALL royalties. THE MORALE OF THE STORY to this triumphant but tragic dessert is the reason he lost out on so much was because Mr. Wait didn’t “wait.”

It is imperative that we wait on God for every area and arena in our lives. We have the privilege to “wait upon the Lord” for not just the BIG but miniscule too! The problem when we get ahead of God is that we are no longer being led by His Hand. We can miss the provision, promotion and protection when we wander off and do our own thing. When God guides – He provides. When you are in HIS WILL – it is on His bill. Tap in to God and He will pick up the tab. It has been said: “You can get what you want but you will lose what you got.” Thank God we can enjoy U-Turns on this road called LIFE. We need to wait on God for our Partner, Prayers (three types of answer to prayer: Yes, No or WAIT)! We need to “wait on God” for our Problems, Profession, Promotions and practically everything. The hymn is true: “Tis so sweet to TRUST IN JESUS!” We need to wait on the Prince of Peace because Jesus is on His way! Praise the Lord, you don’t have to wait a moment longer for your Pardon. Jesus said: “Today, is the day of salvation.” CLICK HERE if you would like to learn how you can go to Heaven http://www.billygraham.org/specialsections/steps-to-peace/steps-to-peace.asp

Mr. Wait missed millions. Essau in the Old Testament sold his inheritance for a pot of porridge. Demas left the faith for fame and fortune (loving this present world). What is holding you back from running on all cylinders for Christ? If you didn’t shine in ’09, you can still WIN in 2010 because we could be going to Heaven in 2011! Stand up & step out and watch God Show up and show OFF! Better for us to wait on God than for Him to be waiting on us. Waiting is a form of worship. Waiting includes “being still and knowing He is God” but it also reveals trust in Him when God is silent with us. While resting in His Presence read and recite His Promises.

Jell-o is great but JESUS is God! He knows your name, he knows your needs and knows your neighborhood. God has not failed or forgotten you and don’t give up on Him just yet. The Lord desires the very best for you and trust Him who is INVISIBLE to do the IMPOSSIBLE in your life. What you can see is temporal but what you cannot see is eternal. Better to rest in the Lord that run in life without Him. I like some rock music but it is far better to be walking, working and WAITING on the LORD than “Running with the Devil.” Better to be on the “Stairway to Heaven” than “Highway to Hell.” Jesus is the Answer to your questions and you cannot lose in the long run when you “WAIT UPON THE LORD.”
