My heart is to honor God and bless others. This timely post is encouraging because so many of us at times wonder if we are effective, on the right track, did we miss the boat, is God using me (much less pleased)? Friends, this was Chuck Swindoll’s message from yesterday and you will find it word for word below. I pray it will minister to you like it did me.
“Nobodies”
by Charles R. Swindoll
(1 Corinthians 12:19-25)
Pull a sheet of scratch paper out of your memory bank and see how well you do with the following questions:
Who taught Martin Luther his theology and inspired his translation of the New Testament?
Who visited with Dwight L. Moody at a shoe store and spoke to him about Christ?
Who was the wife of Charles Haddon Spurgeon? Who was the elderly woman who prayed faithfully for Billy Graham for over twenty years? Who helped Charles Wesley get underway as a composer of hymns?Who were the parents of the godly and gifted prophet Daniel?
Okay, how’d you do? Before you excuse your inability to answer these questions by calling the quiz “trivia,” better stop and think. Had it not been for such unknown persons—such “nobodies”—a huge chunk of church history would be missing. And a lot of lives would have been untouched.
Nobodies. What a necessary band of men and women . . servants of the King . . yet nameless in the kingdom! Men and women who, with silent heroism and faithful diligence, relinquish the limelight and live in the shade of public figures.
As Jim Elliot, martyred messenger of the gospel to the Aucas once remarked: “Missionaries are a bunch of nobodies trying to exalt Somebody.”
Praise God! We’re among that elite group mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12: “some of the parts that seem weakest and least important are really the most necessary…So God has put the body together in such a way that extra honor and care are given to those parts that might otherwise seem less important” (vv. 22, 24, TLB).
If it weren’t for the heroic “nobodies,” we wouldn’t have any sound or lights or heat or air conditioning in our churches next Sunday. We wouldn’t have homes in which high schoolers can meet on Sunday nights to sing and share. We wouldn’t have church staff and officers and teachers working together behind the scenes.
Nobodies . . . exalting Somebody.
Are you playing a behind-the-scenes role? Thank God for giving you that opportunity.
Wow, did I need this today. THANK YOU!!
Hi Frank, I just wantd to say thanks to you and Ruth for being such an inspiration on Sunday …I always leave feeling refreshed because of your message and Ruths song choice…looking forward to next time…Love you both
I loved Dr Adrian Rogers. What an honor for you to have met his wife. Blessings
I still been praying for people to be save Frank! I’ll help you to pray for the leaders of the church to focus on helping saving the souls. Most of the leaders of the churches are busy reaping money to filled their bank accounts and gathering last days treasures.
I’m going back to write to i-Report in Cnn again, summoning the people to recieve … See MoreJesus as their Lord and Savior and rebuke them from their wrong doing and call them to repent. I had been persecuted by many, because the words that God gave me to deliver is sharp that can pierce the heart. But some were realizing Jesus is all they need. There were confusion in the atheist hearts and hopefully that confusion will turn into the salvation of their souls.
My kids when they were little, they don’t get candy when they were naughty so in order to correct them they get paddle and a firm words. That’s what the churches of the last days needs a hammer and a sword, so that they can focus to the Father’s will in their life.
I’m still in the afflictions of illness, but it doesn’t stopped me to deliver God’s message through the internet. One day, God open my eyes, and made me listened to the howling of the souls in Hell. I had been sent back to finish my purpose.
It’s very sad to see preachers or even teachers, who are so focus on the buildings or empty shell, instead of the souls of the people. My secret prayer closets, is where I’m fighting for the souls to be save. Fight for the souls Church! Weep for the souls to be save.
HalleluYAH!! No name or not Brother Frank, we rejoice to see how the LORD is using you to speak His heartbeat to His people so powerfully for His glory!!
Thanks for that message Sunday! You are always an inspiration and an encouragement!
On Sunday at fellowship Church we had church. We heard a much needed msg. and Ruth sang a song that was havenley go Ruth go frank. Do what God wants and you will hit the mark every time. Only whats done for Christ will last. We can’t do what we think the people want we need to give them what they need. thanks for meeting the need frank.
We need to grow up give it to God and get on with what God has given us to do the time is short. we have enough of the sweet stuff we need the meat of the word. Thanks Ruth & Frank for a great day in the Lord to God be the Glory GOD BLESS AMERICA
Chuck Swindoll is the best. The way I see it we are all the same no matter how much money we make, or don’t; what we do for a living, or who knows us; or doesn’t….as long as we know God and he know us- the rest is secondary. We all sin and fall short. Thanking heaven for Jesus!
I just don’t get the hype & never have or ever will..and I have a semi famous son. To me he is just plain ol Justin. People fall into traps of thinking they are better, smarter, prettier, funnier, faster…all illusions of the human ego craftily put their by Satin to keep us separate in the family of God. Living one day at a time, one lesson at a time, in the heart, is all we can do.

Frank, thanks so much for being so personable! This blog is great! I love becoming less so HE can become more. I dislike the time I waste trying to determine my worth on lifes scale or to other people. It makes me feel worthless, but when my eyes are fixed on JESUS I feel worthy because that is what HE sees in me (a reflection of HIM).
Thanks again, Frank!!
GOD Bless,
Erin
Thanks, Frank. What an honor and joy it is to have a friend like you. I always feel like “somebody special” when I’m with you. I thank God for you and your ministry.
