ANSWERED PRAYER – Since last Sunday night, I have had the privilege to stay the last few days at Dr. Billy Graham’s home in Montreat / Black Mountain, NC (October 5-9, 2025). For 20 years, he & Ruth Graham lived here and helped raise their children in this house when they first got married. The home is a time capsule and the pics are original and just as it was. Folks would show up at all hours of the night peeking in the windows hoping to get a glimpse of the world famous evangelist. After one too many visitors it was safer to move up the mountain with another layer of security.
The Graham home resembles the family – First Class. The house is simply profound and profoundly simple. It reveals simplicity, humility and he lived for eternity. It has been a dream to visit but to stay a couple nights is over the top and in the words of Larry King Live, “He was a giant.” I am not talking size but spiritual stature. Everyone knew Billy Graham was important but him. It’s been an honor to be on staff over the years with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and see up close their world-wide ministry. Dr. Graham preached face to face to more people in person than any human in history and pastored 12 U.S. Presidents.
Great to catch up on the phone with TW Wilson and Grady’s family and I was hoping to catch up with Gi Gi Graham at her home but she’s been under the weather. Will Graham is doing a phenomenal job following his grandfather’s footsteps and super being back at The Cove twice while in town. On the last night, I invited my friends, Brian & Jamie Johnson to join me on the last night and they drove from Aiken, SC. They brought their daughter, Presley and great having lunch with my college buddy, Captain Jonathan Brown from Asheville Police Dept and super hearing from my friend, Al Wood – UNC All-American. North Carolina is home away from home for me and Dr. Billy Graham could have lived anywhere in the world but he found solace in these wonderful people and beautiful mountains. I can see why he stayed here. God answers prayers and sometimes He answers over night but other times takes decades like mine tonight but I’m reminded again of His faithfulness. The Lord is never in a hurry but always on time.
Billy had a Ruth and I do too! It was a true delight to stay and glean from this Gospel legend. Forever Grateful for the staff at Billy Graham’s Homeplace for the privilege to stay. They are a blessing! Preaching next weekend on campus at Liberty Univ. The irony is Charlie Kirk was scheduled to do convocation the following week. My buddy, Pastor Ben Graham is presenting Erika an award at convocation. Enjoy the video above of my recent message LESSONS LEARNED VISITING Billy Graham’s Home. The two below are powerful too!
